Norwest Venture Partners (NVP), a global technology venture capital firm, has made the series A investment of $10 million in the Web 2.0 Pioneer Sulekha.com - Connecting Indians Worldwide. NVP managing partner Promod Haque has joined Sulekha’s Board of Directors.

Sulekha has established itself as an online community and networking hub for Indians worldwide. It has integrated three prominent trends: India, social media and local business. Sulekha offers a comprehensive portfolio of social networking, blogs, classifieds, news, events, travel, tickets and yellow pages. Sulekha will use the investment for business development and marketing. Sulekha plans to expand its services to the mobile platform, targeting 80 million mobile phone users today.

Promod Haque is ranked as a top dealmaker. He has been on the Forbes Midas List for last five years. In 2004, Forbes named him the Number 1 venture capitalist. In 2006, he was presented with a Global Leadership award from NASSCOM.
